A British costumer designer who honed his craft with the RSC, O’Neill fell for film and television after being lent out to work on Roman Polanski’s Macbeth (1971). He received BAFTA nominations for Our Mutual Friend (1998), Love in a Cold Climate (2001), Daniel Deronda (2002) and Elizabeth I (2005), winning for Charles II: The Power & the Passion (2003).
